Fingers crossed!

Here at Splish Splosh we are getting very excited about the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, although it did seem at one point that they might have been cancelled! That would have been terrible news as we have some of the best athletes we have had representing us at an international level in years – not to mention what the games mean for India.

Apparently the athletes’ village is not complete; the Scottish team has even stated that it is not even fit for human habitation! Whether something can be done to resolve the issue in the next two days before the streams of athletes from the commonwealth nations pour into the Indian capital remains to be seen, although Australia’s chef de mission, Steve Moneghetti, said the amount of work would take a minimum of two weeks.

The athletes’ village is an integral part to any sporting event, and they do deserve the best facilities in which to prepare – especially our swimming team – so let’s hope alternative accommodation can be found for the athletes that don’t (or can’t) stay in the village.

Now if you have followed our Twitter updates you will see that we have received a fair bit of media exposure recently, mainly due to our collaboration with DW Sports Fitness.

With The Press in York singing our praises and the Middlesbrough Evening Gazette preparing to feature us soon along with the Northern Echo, we are thrilled at all the positive feedback.

Not only that, but Vicky had a nice write up in the Oldham Evening Chronicle. Growing up in Oldham she knew that one day she would love to offer her home community the opportunity the chance to take up lessons with Splish Splosh, with us operating from DW Sports Fitness in Trafford her dream was made a reality (it’s no wonder we are so busy at that site!).
